Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The paper adheres to the thematic scope of the journal and, in particular, contains substantial linguistic content.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it being submitted for publication to another journal.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal. Also, the submission file is in PDF.
  • The submission is fully anonymous (unless the paper is submitted to the Editorials section). In particular, the submission should not contain any self-references such as “I showed in Smith 2020 that…” (write instead: “Smith 2020 showed that…”), links to any supplementary materials should not reveal the identity of the author(s), acknowledgements should be avoided at this stage. Make sure that names of all the files you upload for review do not contain your name.
  • The authors agree to publish their work on the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International Licence.
  • For papers submitted to the Editorials section: please provide – as a ZIP file – PDF together with all (LaTeX) sources; the paper, if accepted by the editors, will go directly to copyediting, where sources are needed.

Author Guidelines

All submissions should be prepared using the JLM styles.

The format of submissions is LaTeX – the styles and more detailed instructions are available here:  JLM LaTeX class v.1.6.8.

The initial submission should only consist of a PDF file; in particular, it is Authors' responsibility to convert their submission to PDF and verify the correctness of this conversion.

The language of JLM is English; if you are not a native speaker of English, make sure your paper is proof-read by a (near-)native speaker before it is submitted.  The usual length of articles is between 25 and 50 JLM pages, but exceptions can be made in well-justified cases.  In any case, the contribution of the paper must be substantial.

See Review Policy for the reviewing procedure.  Once the article is accepted, the Authors will be asked to declare the character and extent of contributions of particular Authors.

Overviews

This section contains overview papers.  Unlike in case of regular articles, reviewers are asked to evaluate the exhaustiveness of the overview rather that the scientific novelty of ideas presented.
